Holiday Reading Camp

Booksie’s Summer Holiday Reading Camp is a fun and relaxing celebration of books, storytelling and creativity. The seven-week programme has been designed for children who love books or are learning to love them.

Readers will get to brush up on their reading and writing skills, learn basic acting and public speaking skills, do creative hands-on projects and make new friends! Our ultimate goal is to develop reading skills, build confidence and inspire creativity.

Readers are assessed on their first day and grouped based on their reading levels. Beginning readers are taught to read with Jolly Phonics and fluent readers focus on spelling, writing and sharing what they read.

  • WRITING

Young readers will improve their penmanship with handwriting practice and older readers will have creative writing sessions. They will learn the elements of a story and how to develop characters.

  • ART AND CRAFT

From fixing jigsaw puzzles to creating paper spiders, microphones and haunted houses out of cardboard, readers have fun working with their hands and stretching their imaginations.

  • PUBLIC SPEAKING

Public speaking gives our readers the chance to become more confident as they learn to think critically and share their thoughts and ideas.

  • DANCE

Readers get to take a break from reading and express themselves with their bodies. They enjoy dance because they get to relax and let go!

  • THEATRE

We bring the stories we read to life through theatre. It is another fantastic way to build readers' confidence and communication skills.
