WHAT HAPPENS AT CAMP?
-
READING
Readers are assessed on their first day and grouped based on their reading levels. Beginning readers are taught to read with Jolly Phonics and fluent readers focus on spelling, writing and sharing what they read.
-
WRITING
Young readers will improve their penmanship with handwriting practice and older readers will have creative writing sessions. They will learn the elements of a story and how to develop characters.
-
ART AND CRAFT
From fixing jigsaw puzzles to creating paper spiders, microphones and haunted houses out of cardboard, readers have fun working with their hands and stretching their imaginations.
-
PUBLIC SPEAKING
In our bid to help you raise confident readers who are able to think critically and share their thoughts and ideas, we are introducing public speaking this year! This will be led by our partner Speech Forces.
-
DANCE
Dance allows us to take breaks from the captivating worlds we encounter in books and express ourselves with our bodies. Readers love dance because they get to relax and let go!
-
THEATRE
We will bring the stories we read to life through theatre. Theatre is another fantastic way to build readers' confidence and communication skills.
